Asthma

Do I Have Asthma? What Can I Do About It?

Asthma is a condition which causes a person’s airways to constrict and produce excess mucus. This can be an inconvenience or, in more severe cases, can lead to coughing and wheezing commonly known as an asthma attack. If you periodically experience shortness of breath, chest pain, coughing or wheezing with no obvious external cause, you may have asthma. At The Asthma & Allergy Specialists can help you find out for sure and learn to control it/mitigate the symptoms. For questions or more information, call us at (901) 202-4100 or visit our office.

Testing for and Classifying Asthma

The symptoms associated with asthma are also associated with a number of other conditions. Occasionally multiple tests must be done to rule out other potential causes. Once we have determined that a patient has asthma, we will then classify the level of seriousness and begin discussing treatment options. The severity of asthma can range from scattered mild attacks to persistent and debilitating bouts of coughing and wheezing. However, no matter how serious the case, we will find a solution for you.
